yeah planks are good. the key with core strength is to train it functionally. in the same way that just doing dumbbell cursls wont give you any real functional strength in your upper body, just doing situps won't give you good functional core strength. when i want to get a core workout that makes it hurt to cough for a week, i hit some of these badboys:

well see planks are the reason i really want to get my strength up. cos i can do curls no worries but planks my body feels like its shaking when i get to like 30 seconds...
so i dunno wtf is up. halp halp.
tried inclined pushups a few times also but i think i want to get to my 30/30/30 goal normal mode before i really do that more.
my brother had one 7.5kg dumbell thats sitting in his room, dunno if i can really use that for much. any ideas on a workout routine for strength?

Seriously soldat, no hate zone.
In regard to the incline push ups, I'd throw one set in there each time, even if it's only 5 as a last set. It'll likely help you on your goal of 30/30/30. Keep the planks up. I used to do them with some mates, as well as some other core shit - it gets intense but in general you can always do TEN MORE SECONDS! So just put some hardcore music on or something and aim to hit a time, each time.
yeah, dumbell curl to overhead presses.
Start of with sets of like 3x8-12. When I do the curl one, I actually do a proper curl then twist as I do the overhead press so my wrist ends up facing outward. Using one dumbbell is fine too.
