K so I'll leave this here, it's not related to your competition.

My personal challenge is to get my diet under control because I've put on like 10kg+ of FAT since leaving the military only a month ago due to constantly having experienced 'survival mode' metabolism leading to terrible eating habits that developed on long exercises etc. I became accustomed to pretty much stuffing myself whenever given the chance and I still do (even though there's no more logical reason), only now sometimes it's like 6 times a day because food is abundant in the real world. It should take a few months to re-adjust the habits and I'm optimistic but what has happened is terrible.

What's interesting is that this post pretty much sums up one of the major theories of why obesity is an epidemic now. Being that for thousands of years, literally out entire existence as a species we have been in 'survival mode'. It became part of our nature to stuff ourselves every time we got the chance. Our bodies even developed tastes and urges for the better survival foods aka Fat and Sugar. Only problem today is that only within the last 100 years out of the tens of thousands of years we have been around there has been supermarkets where you can get food whenever. So you're body still craves fats and sugars because of 'survival mode' but the ease of getting it now means we eat way too much.

What's wrong with keeping the habit of stuffing your face as long as you're working out hard?

Although if you really wanted to stop it unnaturally, there's always appetite suppresses?

Sounds hardcore btw

mini update: I'm training a lot more, eating a fair bit more too. Also moved my bench bar and some weights to my room from the garage and found I'm doing random exercises a lot more whenever I have energy. When I put on a lot of weight a few months back it seems that the fact I had the weights inside so I could train whenever instead of having to go to the garage helped a lot. Problem identified and solved.

I consider it wrong because it's too much. I used to have a really good diet before mil that was complemented with the decent amount of exercise I was getting and I want it back because I felt really good etc. I don't think my daily intake ever exceeded ~3500kcal even with the excercise (divided in between five to six meals) and I never felt the need to eat more, but now I can easily consume double that like some retard that cannot realize he doesn't have to do it any longer, because there is no more scarcity of food nor time for eating. I am aware of it and can take baby steps but it makes me feel terrible, I can only shop for groceries one day at a time because whatever I get will last for one day pretty much lol.

Fuck wish I had your hunger lol. For me it's been the opposite. When I was training hard and packed on about 8kg over two months I always felt like I needed to eat. Since I've slowed down I'm now finding it hard to increase my appetite again, though I can feel it working. I know because slowly I'm finding it much easier to finish off large meals and I'm getting hungry again sooner. Just been baby steps for me.

Baby steps for your situation also make sense. The less you eat over time the less you feel you need to eat, guessing for you it's gonna take some time. You really could go and speak to a Doc about appetite suppressants to speed things along though. Should make it easier.

it was really hard after army service to switch metabolism, but it works after a while.

just do what I do now if you eat too much:
- video games
- too lazy to go shop (although I have to soon because its closing and I want to make a casserole)

Challenge Blog

DAY 1

My goals for this challenge (I've decided to add one)

1) Learn how to Power clean better and increase my lift from 50kg to 80kg +

2) Keep training Judo + BJJ consistently and compete in one at the end of the 3 months (haven't competed for a good 6 months now)
- This means I don't want to put on anymore weight so I can make an easy cut in the last couple of weeks to compete at under 100kg

How I'm gonna do this:

The big issue for me is finding training time now I'm not a bum student. My workout schedule is something like this atm:

Monday: Weights - Squat 3x5, Power clean 3x3, Deadlift 1x5, Bench 3x5, chin-ups, situps, stretch
Tuesday: Maybe run in the morning, maybe not
Wed: 2 hours Judo
Thursday: Nothing
Friday: 2 hours BJJ
Saturday: 2 hours Judo then Weights - Squat 3x3, Power clean 3x3, Push press 3x5, chinups, stretch

Lifting after Judo is fucking awful but I can't really fit it in otherwise :intigo:

So day 1 was yesterday; Judo then weights. Judo went really well, submitted one of the other brown belts 4 times in 5 minutes which was pretty boss. Weights was not so good however. I walk into the weight room, see an empty squat rack, walk up to it. Then some fucking hipster walks up to me and says

H: "I'm using that"
M: "Urm you're using it to do curls? Its a squat rack. Can't you go do it over there?"
H: "NO I need the mirror"

:negative:

Stats after day1:

Power clean: 50kg
Body weight: 103kg :cripes:
