Actually the possessive pronoun is "its" not "it's" :)

What do you know, the Fly Swat is right, I just looked it up. For some reason I had it in my head that the same rules applied to it as to other nouns regards ownership.

another thing people often get confused about are the use of apostrophes to indicate the possession of something by multiple people

ie

my sister's bags = i have one sister, and the bags belong to her
my sisters' bags = i have more than one sister, and the bags belong to them

and the use of apostrophes when the name ends with an s

steve's bags = the bags belong to steve
jesus' bags = the bags belong to jesus
