It's always a bad idea to burn away from a cane assuming you have gang mates that has it scramed (he cannot gain traversal on you) and especially if you have no cap for MWD since you'll likely take 3-4 clean hits from the cane trying to escape his warp disruption range which will likely kill you, especially with prior damage, so even if your cap is dry the best option is usually just to keep shooting him and orbit 500, and if you're in a danger of dying to the drones you can always switch focus to them.
